General Information

Low Fell Running Club, located in Gateshead, is a welcoming club for runners of all ages, from juniors under 11 through to veterans. The club meets every Tuesday and Thursday evening at the Gateshead Fell Cricket Club, running in various sub groups. Club members participate in local and national road, cross-country, and fell races. We also have a dedicated ladies-only running group, and a group to accomodate our junior athletes.

Annual club membership fees:

Seniors £30.00 per year

Under 18 £20.00 per year

Under 16 £20.00 per year

Subscriptions are reviewed and renewed every year in April and are subject to change.

Monday: Ladies beginners group (including veterans) - Low Fell Cricket Club, all abilities welcome. 

Tuesday: Speed endurance training – Low Fell Cricket Club or TVTE, multiple groups are led by a qualified coach. 

Thursday: General club run - Low Fell Cricket Club, multiple groups are led by a qualified coach.

Friday: Junior training (under 16) – Gateshead Stadium / Saltwell Park.

 

Couch to 5K: The club has previously organised a 'Couch to 5K program' for individuals new to running or looking to return to it. The meeting venue is the bandstand in Saltwell Park. Further details will be posted on our Facebook page should this be made available in future.

 

Other information:

Joining Us

  • When you register with the club, you will receive a UK Athletics number and will become an affiliated athlete. You can use this number when entering a variety of races and often you may receive a discounted entry. 
  • The club welcomes second claim athletes. Please read the ‘Second Claim Club Policy’ from the policies pag and contact the secretary.
  • AGM details: Updates are provided annually, and members will be notified via email.

Grand Prix

  • The club hosts an annual 'Grand Prix' for both male and female members. This includes several local races, providing club members the chance to accumulate points. The individual with the highest points total is declared the winner at the club's Annual General Meeting.

Races

  • Annually, club members participate in several prestigious races, including: The Great North Run, The Blaydon Race, The Gibside Trail Race, The Pier to Pier Race, Saltwell 10k, Tynedale 10 Mile Race, Relay races, and The London Marathon.
  • The club also participates in the local Cross Country League, known as The North Eastern Harrier League. There are 6 fixtures and we are able to field strong men, womens and junior teams on a regular basis. Further information about the league can be found here: N.E.H.L WEBSITE
