Wild Race series Race 3, Bowderdale

The club had 5 participants in the 74 strong field. Conditions were fairly dry underfoot, visibility good and weather cool and cloudy. The course is a tad challenging climbing up to 578 metres(or some 1700 feet for the traditionalist) and a streak of masochism is probably necessary to be able to enjoy this one.

Young gazelle Bishop continued his splendid form in this series gaining an excellent 3rd in 77 minutes for the reputed 17 kilometre course. Young vet Graham also had an excellent 6th place finish to claim 1st V40 in 82 minutes. The ageless Doidge keeps on going and he was good enough to come in 24th in 96 minutes. Clark proved that he is in good form with 99 minutes for 33rd place. O'Brien brought up the rear in 103 minutes. O'Brien was compensated by the fact that if you really want to appreciate the beauty of this course you should run it in something like 103 minutes.

Times and word's from Mick who said. "The ever improving Gerald finished 9th in 42:51 - a good performance seeing this was his first proper fell race.The ever deteriorating me finished 32nd in 53:35. There were 54 finishers. It was a category 'A' fell race of 5 miles and 1250 feet ascent. The conditions were dreadful in terms of visibility with many navigational upsets. "
